Course Description
With Power BI in Excel you can convert your Controlling to a much more efficient level. This course provides a profound introduction.
The participants of this online-training learn how to transform raw data into dynamic data models and dashboards. Based on practical examples, you’ll acquire work techniques ranging from data cleansing over data modelling to powerful DAX-functions for data analysis and visualisation.
SESSION I
Introduction to Power BI
Power Query
The Data Cleansing Process
• Accessing various data sources (CSV, SQL, data bases)
• Correcting typical data errors
• Editing data formats and replacing values and errors
Coffee Break (30 Minutes)
Advanced Functions to Edit Data
• Edit commands and insert additional commands
• Encoding data for later relationships between tables of the data model
• Organise, combine and merge queries
SESSION II
Power Pivot
Basics in Data Modelling
This part of the course communicates the steps to connect data tables from various sources. You’ll also learn how to exclude data (filter, hide etc.) and how to add additional calculations.
• Loading data into a data model
• Creating and adding dimension tables
• Establishing logical relationships between tables
• Editing of relations and updating data models
Coffee Break (30 Minutes)
DAX-Functions for Data Aggregation
• Calculating KPI with DAX-measures
• Differences between implicit and explicit measures
• Applying DAX functions as calculated columns
• Important functions to aggregate data in tables
• Working with slicers and timelines in Power Pivot Reports
SESSION III
Conditional Calculations in Reports
• Overriding the filter context with CALCULATE()
• Manipulating the filter context with ALL(), ALLEXCEPT() and FILTER()
Coffee Break (30 Minutes)
Shares of Overall Results and Ratios with DAX Functions
• Calculating ratios with basic aggregations and DIVIDE()
• Calculating shares of characteristics of an overall result
SESSION IV
Time Intelligence
Time Intelligence Functions are the most powerful tools to generate time
related data analysis.
• Integration of calendars
• Year-to-date-calculation based on a standard calender
• Year-over-year-analyses of data series
Coffee Break (30 Minutes)
Power BI Desktop
Interactive Data Visualisation and User-Defined Reports
• Choice and application of different visuals
• Filtering visuals and pages
• Integrating drill-throughs in report pages
• Using bookmarks
