The Vision 2025 of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) states MBSE will become the norm for systems engineering. You learn and experience the foundations of MBSE and the FAS method in a compact, hands-on online training course.

You will learn the international standard OMG Systems Modeling Language (OMG SysML“) and receive valuable first-hand practices for your daily work. We at oose are co-developers of SysML and actively involved in numerous MBSE projects.

Systems primarily provide functions to their users but are mostly developed component-oriented by engineers. The too-early focus on physical components, for example, the electrical engine, and not on the function, for example, generating power, slows down innovation and prevents synergy effects.

Using the Functional Architectures for Systems (FAS) method, the training course leads you from the system idea, through a use case analysis and requirements, to a technology-independent functional system architecture that is stable over many product generations. Based on this, you make architecture decisions to derive a physical system architecture with concrete components and to detail and model these further. With the help of sequence and state diagrams, you specify system behavior and derive the required interfaces to enable this behavior.

You will apply your newly learned knowledge directly to a practical case study, which you will design and discuss together with the other participants during the training course. Focused on the essentials, you will work with SysML on (digital) flipcharts. You will experience the FAS method using a creative workshop card technique.

PRINCE2® (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a proven project management methodology which provides an easily tailored and scalable method for the management of all types of projects. PRINCE2® is practised worldwide and as best practice framework it offers precise recommendations with common processes, management products, roles, and language for use throughout an organisation’s projects. Participants in this training will deepen their knowledge of the methodology by applying the Themes and Processes of PRINCE2® within a comprehensive sce-nario, similar to the real exam. Participants can work through an additional mock-up exam as an ideal final step before taking the exam.

Overview

This course will help you to better understand the techniques of performance analysis and capacity planning on systems and partitions running IBM i and develop an appreciation of how IBM i operates and interfaces with applications. This course is expected to build skills to better manage performance and capacity on systems and partitions running IBM i.

The course explains IBM i concepts, including the Technology Independent Machine Interface (TIMI), main storage pools, auxiliary storage pools, management of jobs, threads, and tasks, job run-time structure, performance monitoring, data collection, and analysis of performance data.

This course includes hands-on activities using performance data from IBM i systems to help the student appreciate the concepts discussed. This course is designed for those running Power Systems on IBM i. While it includes i 7.2 content, it is suitable for those currently using prior versions of IBM i.

The first part of this course (units 1-6) focus on teaching the performance management process, the performance considerations of key hardware components and virtualization options, and tuning options to help optimize performance. During these lectures, students should gain an appreciation of the unique storage management and work management components in the IBM i architecture and how these components need to be managed for optimal performance.
